Who Does What?

From admission to graduation, Advisors are committed to your success! We are a comprehensive service focused on guiding you and enhancing your college experience. Advisors are available to offer academic and personal guidance. They will support students who believe they could benefit from having some additional support. If you feel you are struggling with keeping on track, feeling overwhelmed or just need additional information, a student advisor will be there to assist.

Services include:

  • Advising in a comfortable atmosphere where you can ask questions in confidence about your personal or academic pathway
  • Free workshops (academic or personal development)
  • Boot camps
  • Peer Mentoring Program
  • Lunch and Learn Opportunities
  • Social Activities
  • Supports and Guidance (Where do I go from here?)
  • Study tips and other academic resources
  • Referrals to campus and community services

The international department can provide support for: health insurance card, providing documentation for study permit extensions, pre-arrival documentation, withdrawals, letters of absence and other general inquiries.

The Financial Aid Officer manages internal bursaries, which are awarded to students from Northern College. The process to apply for these bursaries occurs in September and January of each academic year. For help with applying for bursaries during these times, please contact the Financial Aid Officer and they will be happy to assist you.

The NCSA is a board of elected student representatives who are here to help you during your time of study at Northern College. Come to the NCSA office for any part of Student life; located in the basement in F034.

We coordinate, promote, and support activities and services for students, such as:

  • Academic grievance representation
  • Entertainment and events
  • a student food bank
  • Frosh kits
  • Student agendas
  • Political lobbying
  • And more!

Accessibility Services ensures that the academic environment is accessible whether you are onsite or online. Barriers to learning are identified, and resources are offered to support learning. Do you have a disability that requires physical adaptations or learning accommodations? Students who learn differently or who have physical challenges are encouraged to contact the advisors in Accessibility Services to discuss their program of study and any accommodations required. Accessibility services are designed for students who may have restrictions resulting from a physical, sensory, or mental health disability. Located in the C Wing in C106.

The Learning Resource Centre is a focal point for teaching and learning at Northern College. They contribute to every aspect of academic and intellectual life at the college by providing a broad range of services to students, faculty, administration, staff and the community.
